One of the nicest perks of moving to Scottsdale, AZ and its surrounding towns is having a wide variety of choices from among the immense number of farmers’ markets here. Each of these may have their respective auras but one characteristic binds them all: they feature the freshest produce from farms in and around the East Valley.

The Arizona climate may be warm to arid but these conditions are not deterrents to the production of bountiful harvests. These agricultural products find their way to numerous farmers’ markets in the Valley where prices are much cheaper than in groceries and supermarkets. And since these come straight from the farm, you can be assured of quality and freshness up to the time you cook and serve them.

Listed below are just some of the most popular farmers’ markets in Arizona’s East Valley:

Arizona Community Farmers Markets

One of the most popular farmer’s markets in the Valley is the Arizona community farmers’ markets. Falling under this group are the following:

  • Ahwatukee Farmers’ Market
  • Anthem Farmers’ Market
  • Capitol Farmers’ Market
  • Carefree Farmers’ Market
  • Farmers’ Market High Street
  • Old Town Scottsdale
  • Roadrunner Farmers’ Market
  • Sun City Farmers’ Market
  • Verrado Farmers’ Market

Those living in Scottsdale, AZ will know how to navigate these markets scattered around the area. All of them usually conduct their business on weekends except for Sun City Farmers’ Market which opens its doors to market goers on Thursdays. The variety of products here is astounding. Of course, you will find the standard agricultural produce but other than those, you will come across stalls selling local artworks, artisanal and homemade products, dairy products, even fresh meat and seafood. Usual operating hours here are from 8 AM to 1 PM but if you want to be assured of just-harvested fruits and vegetables, do come early.

Queen Creek Olive Mill Marketplace
25062 S. Meridian Road, Queen Creek

The advantage of living in Queen Creek, AZ is being within striking distance from one of the premier producers of the finest extra virgin oils, balsamic vinegar, and sauces in the state, the Queen Creek Olive Mill. What’s exciting about the place is their sprawling olive grove that oftentimes becomes the venue of many memorable events in town from weddings to mini-concerts. They also have a quaint little dining space with a menu consisting of delectable dishes made even more flavorful with their in-house specialties.

The Queen Creek Olive Mill’s Scottsdale branch in Marketplace at Kierland Commons features a display of its finest products that are up for sale. Both locations are open every day so you can visit any time for some retail therapy or for food and fun.

Momma’s Organic Market
9744 W. Northern Avenue, Peoria

Still part of the Valley to the northwest of Phoenix is Peoria. Here, you will find an interesting mashup between a farmers’ market and a food truck place called Momma’s Organic Market. This heady mix of food, brews, music, local produce, and art is like no other in the state – you simply cannot miss the opportunity to shop, dine, and listen to live music here.

You can’t go wrong with the Valley if you’re up for farm-to-table food freshness that its many farms can provide through these farmers’ markets.
