After the COVID-19 pandemic derailed off-season practices and pre-season games last year, fans of the Arizona Cardinals will be glad to know that details for this year’s pre-season games have been finalized.

Pre-season game 1: Arizona Cardinals vs. Dallas Cowboys
Aug. 13 (Friday), 7 p.m. at the State Farm Stadium

The Cardinals’ first pre-season game will be on home turf against the Dallas Cowboys. They will face each other again this December in Dallas during the regular season, so pay close attention to the dynamics and outcome of this game.

Pre-season game 2: Arizona Cardinals vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Aug. 20 (Friday), 5 p.m. at the State Farm Stadium

This second pre-season game will be the first time that Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury will go against one of his former players, Patrick Mahomes. Sports fans are also eyeing a possible showdown between Mahomes and the Cardinals’ new quarterback, Kyler Murray.

Pre-season game 3: Arizona Cardinals vs. New Orleans Saints
Aug. 28 (Saturday), 5 p.m. at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome

For the last pre-season game, the Cardinals will play against the New Orleans Saints. The last time these two teams met on the field was in 2019.

What you need to know about attending the practice games

In addition to the two home pre-season games, Arizona residents and fans can watch 12 open practice sessions at the State Farm Stadium starting July 30 (Friday). Digital tickets are required before entry. Purchase your tickets here.

There are two practice sessions to keep an eye out for:

    • Training Camp: Back Together Saturday on July 31. This session is part of the NFL Training Camp, a league-wide extensive ramp-up training period that includes scrimmages, drills, team meetings with coaches, and weight training.
    • Red and White Practice on August 7. This is the Cardinals’ annual team practice and a major opportunity for the younger players. It is also a chance for anyone on the team to show if they have what it takes to make the roster.

Bear in mind that strict safety protocols will be in place during the sessions, such as mask-wearing and social distancing. Autograph signing is also not allowed in accordance with the NFL COVID protocols.

What we can expect from the Cardinals in the 2021 pre-season games

The Cardinals made the most out of the off-season by signing J.J. Watt and rookie Zaven Collins to improve their defense. Everyone is also looking forward to the performance of quarterback Kyler Murray and wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins and A.J. Green.

With these star talents, head coach Kliff Kingsbury and the rest of the team see the upcoming season as their make-it-or-break-it season. The pre-season games will most likely serve as the prologue to the Cardinals’ push for the playoffs and a championship, especially in how it can influence the final roster line-up.
